Update

I plan to post a 'years in review' soon, but in the meantime here is a copy of an e-mail I recently sent to a dear friend talking about what is going on with us right now:

Things have been crazy with us. I kept meaning to get out a Christmas letter, even if it was just an e-mailed one, but it never happened. A lot has happened with us the last few months, or the last year I guess. In the fall we decided to take the next year "off" and move to Texas. Why Texas, you ask? Well, for several reasons. One, to be closer to my family, because my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer last February. Two, to get our Texas residency for med school. So, we moved here to Athens, Texas the middle of January. We are buying a house (YEA!), but we are living with my parents while we put in some flooring and paint (the carpets were bleh).
We thought we would only be staying with my fam for a week or two, but shortly after we got out here my Dad took a turn for the worse. The family had a choice of either putting him in a nursing home half and hour away or having him come home to be cared for by us until he passes away. We, of course, chose for him to be at home. He is more comfortable here and it gives my sisters a chance to see him and talk to him when he is lucid. But, since my Mom has to work, the bulk of his care has fallen to Scott and I.
So, we are still here at my folks' place, slowly but surely working on our house when we get a chance, but it's hard because there always has to be someone here with my Dad, preferably a man in case he falls out of bed or something. Another hard thing about it is that the kids are going crazy because they don't have their own beds to sleep in, all their toys, etc. and there is a lot of stuff for them to get into here, like nail polish, makeup and candy. Two-and-a-half year old triplets are hard enough to care for, but to add a Dad on top of that makes for a lot on my plate. Plus, I'm finishing my last semester of school (through online classes and private voice lessons). I know the Lord will only give us as much as we can handle, but sometimes I wonder if He has me confused for someone else! ;)
But, the kids are great. Sometimes their smiley faces, and Scott's encouragement, are the only things that keep me going. It's so fun to see them learning and growing and interacting with each other. Their vocabularies have just exploded the last few months. I can't believe they started out as small as they did!

  1. Hey Jillian! It is Amber from our twins group in Utah County. I'd heard you moved. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope that things get better. I am excited for you and Scott to be moving into a house. I don't know how you do it with your triplets. My boys are so crazy but they are so dang cute. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. My blog is meyerstwins.blogspot.com
    Take care!
