Temple Lights

To wrap up our festivities on Christmas Day we decided to go see the lights at the Mesa LDS Temple. We told the kids were we going to the temple for two days before, but never were able to leave in enough time to go, since the temple is 45 min - 1 hour away.

It was pretty neat. They had over 750,000 lights, life-sized nativity scenes, a choir singing and nativities from around the world on display. It was actually COLD!! That helped fuel the Christmas spirit, because everyone knows it's supposed to cold on Christmas, right?!

Scott & Katelynn:

One of the life-sized nativities outside:

The three Wise Men leading their camels:

I think nativities from other countries are so awesome. They remind me of a song I sang in choir once, "Some Children See Him" from the Alfred Burton Carols. Click here to read the poem & hear a little clip of this gorgeous song. Here are a couple of the nativities they had displayed at the temple visitors' center:

It's amazing the difference in the feeling at the temple compared to the feeling at the other light displays we visited. You could tell the Spirit was present on the sacred temple grounds. Granted there were no cartwheeling teddy bears or dump trucks full of presents...

The displays were classy and beautiful and the atmosphere was very peaceful. Good job, Mesa Temple Christmas Lights people! We enjoyed it!
