Caramel Apples

Last Wednesday Jenn and I got together to make caramel apples, a staple Fall tradition. It may still be getting up into the 80s or 90s, but I'm still celebrating Fall, dang it! We missed everyone who couldn't make it. Perhaps another day...

The kids really got a kick out of making caramel apples. They enjoyed helping unwrap the caramels and coating the apples with the good stuff. (By the way...is it caramel or carmel? Does it just depend on what part of the country you're from or what? My spell check seems to think it's caramel. Whatever. It's tastes just as good and sticks to your teeth just as much no matter how you spell it.) We also coated some apples in chocolate and peanuts. Yum! For those of you who've never coated anything (apples, pretzels, fruit) with chocolate, you *must* try it! I'd never done it before, except with a fondue fountain, and the chocolate was SO easy to work with and the apples turned out SO cute. Do it. Today. Why are you still here?! Go to the store right now!

Okay, now that you're back, here are some pictures from our activity for you to enjoy. (I'm not sure how to make it bigger, so if you want to see 'em up close and personal just click on it.)
